Court Progression Manager   – Children’s Services 

 

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is in search of a committed Court Progression Manager   to join their Children’s Service. This newly established position stems from the success of a pilot programme.

Purpose of role

As the Court Progression Manager, your primary responsibility will be to establish and maintain consistent, high-quality practices for children involved in Public Law Outline (PLO) processes, both during pre-proceedings and Care Proceedings. This role plays a crucial part in achieving better outcomes for children within the Royal Borough of Greenwich, while also promoting best practices and quality standards throughout Children’s Services.

Working closely with Service Leaders, frontline Team Leaders, Social Workers, the Local Authority legal department, and partners within the South London Care Proceedings Project, as well as various agencies within the Family Justice System, you will drive improvements by ensuring quality assurance, monitoring progress, measuring outcomes (including the maintenance and reporting of relevant data), and tracking the progression of pre-proceedings and care proceedings, including early permanence planning.

Additionally, you will collaborate with other departments within the Children’s Services Directorate, providing support and covering services as needed.

To attain this role, you will need to 

  • be Social Work England (SWE) registered.
  • hold a relevant Social Work qualification. 
  • have experience and expertise in undertaking Court Work – with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.

Key knowledge, skills and abilities to be successful in this role:

  • extensive knowledge and application of the Public Law Outline and the conduct of Court Cases
  • extensive experience in completing assessments and making recommendations on how those needs can be met.
  • experience of Quality Assuring written work and providing feedback verbally and in writing
  • significant knowledge of legislation and regulation guidance relevant to your role and experience of working in frontline Children's Services
  • strong written and verbal skills and experience of mentoring/supporting less experienced Social Workers
  • this role is equivalent to a Team Leader position to enable challenge and escalate where appropriate.
  • ability to manage resources including financial, information and IT skills.

The role is graded at P08 (Salary scale)
