We're transforming how we work with children, young people and families through Families First for Children, creating integrated services that provide the right help at the right time and keep children's needs, strengths and relationships at the centre of everything we do.

As part of this exciting development, we are recruiting a number of Youth & Family Practitioners to join our newly designed Family Help,  Adolescent Services and Wellbeing in Schools Hubs.

These are key frontline roles, working directly with children, young people and families to build resilience, strengthen relationships and achieve lasting change

About the Role

As a Youth & Family Practitioner, you will work alongside children, young people and families, providing practical help, targeted interventions and intensive support where needed.

You will use evidence-based approaches, systemic practice, professional curiosity and trauma-informed principles to help families recognise their strengths, overcome challenges and achieve sustainable improvements in their lives.

No two days will be the same. You could be supporting a young person at risk of exclusion, helping a family navigate a period of crisis, delivering interventions in a school or community setting, facilitating family-led plans, or working with parents to strengthen relationships and improve outcomes for their children.

This role sits at the heart of our Families First approach, bringing together relationship-based practice, family-led solutions and community resources to help children and families thrive.

What You'll Do

•    Build strong, trusting relationships with children, young people and families.

•    Deliver direct work and evidence-based interventions that promote safety, wellbeing and positive outcomes.

•    Support families to identify strengths, develop solutions and achieve agreed goals.

•    Work with parents, carers and wider family networks to strengthen family relationships and reduce risks.

•    Act as a Lead Practitioner for targeted support cases undertaking assessments and developing help plans.

•    Deliver both one-to-one and group-based interventions with children, young people and parents.

•    Support children and young people who are disengaged from education, training or employment.

•    Work with young people involved in, or vulnerable to, risky behaviours, anti-social behaviour or youth violence.

•    Promote family-led planning and support children to remain safely within their family networks wherever possible.

•    Work flexibly in homes, schools, community settings and neighbourhood locations.

•    Maintain high-quality records and contribute to effective multi-agency planning and decision-making.

•    Respond to emerging needs through targeted group work and prevention programmes.

About You

We are looking for enthusiastic, skilled and resilient practitioners who:

•    Have experience working directly with children, young people and families.

•    Understand the challenges faced by families experiencing complex needs and adversity.

•    Are committed to relationship-based, strengths-focused and trauma-informed practice.

•    Have experience delivering targeted interventions, support programmes or youth and family work.

•    Can engage children, young people and parents who may be reluctant to work with services.

•    Are skilled at building partnerships and working collaboratively with professionals across agencies.

•    Can maintain accurate records and manage a varied caseload.

•    Are passionate about improving outcomes and helping families create lasting change.

•    Are committed to anti-racist, anti-oppressive and inclusive practice.
