Job Introduction
Project Manager (Transport & Public Realm)
Grade PO5
Royal Greenwich is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Programme and Public Realm team within Transportation.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and delivery of complex transport and public realm projects that support the Council’s ambitions for improved transport infrastructure and high-quality public spaces. You will manage projects through all stages, from planning and design to procurement, construction and completion, ensuring successful delivery to time, cost and quality requirements. You will work closely with internal services, consultants, contractors, elected members, communities and external partners to maintain strong governance, effective stakeholder engagement, and robust risk and performance management. The role also includes supervising consultants and contractors, reporting progress to senior officers and boards, and supporting continuous improvement across project delivery.
We are looking for a motivated and capable project manager with experience of delivering complex transport, engineering or public realm projects. You will bring strong technical and project management skills, including a sound understanding of relevant design standards and the ability to review design drawings in detail and provide clear, constructive comments. You will also have experience of programme planning, budget management, risk management and stakeholder engagement, together with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and within a politically aware environment. You should be confident preparing reports and briefings, presenting to senior officers and members, and managing competing priorities in a busy delivery setting. A degree, technical qualification or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field, together with project management knowledge such as PRINCE2 or equivalent, will be important for success in this role.
In return, you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver projects that make a visible difference to places and communities across Royal Greenwich. You will join a team committed to high-quality delivery, collaboration and continuous improvement.
If you are passionate about delivering transport and public realm projects that improve the borough for residents, businesses and visitors, we would welcome your application.
