Job Introduction
35 hours per week – Essential Car User
The Royal Borough of Greenwich is looking for a professional Mechanical and Electrical Engineer to work within their Housing Compliance - Electrical Section (based at Birchmere Business Park SE28 8BF) which is part of the Housing and Safer Communities Directorate.
- You will be joining a team of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers engaged on both maintenance and Capital contracts
- Experience of managing electrical and mechanical contracts and an understanding of partnership working.
- You will be self-motivated with the confidence to represent the Council’s interests in various forums and circumstances with a minimum of HNC/BTech or NVQ Level 5 in Electrical Services and/or extensive experience working within the building service electrical department
- A good knowledge of fire protection, door entry/access control and lightning protection, their working practices and the regulations surrounding them, British EN standards, The Building Regulations, Electricity Regulations, Sustainable and Energy conservation technology.
You will require:
- A good knowledge of the construction industry generally including health and safety, materials, trades, building methods, legal and contractual requirements.
- Excellent organisational, communication and negotiation skills.
- Excellent written communication and report writing skills.
- Excellent contract, finance and budget control skills.
- Excellent IT skills in Word, Excel and Outlook and experience of planning, ordering and scheduling systems.
- The ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff at all levels.
- Be able to demonstrate a flexible and organised approach to work.
- The ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
- Current Driving License and Use of Car
