Do you want a job where no two days are the same, and where your work makes a visible impact on our streets. We’re looking for a proactive and motivated experience Enviro Crime Enforcement Officer to join our frontline team in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
This is a high-profile role tackling environmental crimes such as fly-tipping, trade waste offences, untidy land, and abandoned vehicles. You’ll be at the heart of keeping our borough clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone.
What you’ll be doing
As an Enviro Crime Enforcement Officer, you’ll:
- Lead investigations into serious environmental offences.
- Gather evidence, prepare case files, and present evidence in court.
- Seize vehicles involved in waste crime and deploy mobile CCTV cameras.
- Issue Fixed Penalty Notices and statutory notices in line with legislation.
- Carry out witness and suspect interviews.
- Use scene examination skills (including photography) to identify offenders.
- Work in partnership with the Police, council teams, and external agencies.
- Engage with residents and businesses to prevent crime and promote compliance.
What we’re looking for
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
- A strong background in enforcement or investigation work.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation (fly-tipping, waste offences, abandoned vehicles).
- Experience of gathering evidence, writing reports, and working to legal standards.
- Confidence to engage directly with offenders and members of the public.
- The ability to work flexibly, occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends may be required.
- A full UK driving licence.
Recent training in PACE, CPIA, or conflict management would be an advantage, but if you don’t already have these, we’ll support you with the training you need.
