Early Years Teaching Assistant

Monday-Friday 8:45-1:00, Term Time Only

Fixed term Contract until July 2027 

Salary: Scale 2 Point 3 – 4 (depending on experience, includes London Living Wage) 

£14,970.78 - £15,184.22 pro rata 

Start date: As soon as possible. 

Abbey Wood Nursery School has been at the heart of the local community for over 80 years. We provide high quality education for local children aged 2-5 years. 

We are currently recruiting an Early Years Teaching Assistant on a fixed term contract. The role will include working with children with SEND. Some experience of working with SEND children would be preferable; however, training will be given. 

  • We are looking for a caring, motivated and responsible Teaching Assistant to join our experienced Nursery School team. 
  • You will be working with 2, 3 and 4 year old children. 
  • The job involves supporting children in their play, working within a nursery class, supporting children with additional needs. The role also includes supervision of children at lunchtimes. 
  • The nursery has a strong ethos of inclusion and a tradition of valuing all children and their individual interests.

The successful candidate will have: 

  • GCSE level or equivalent, spoken and written English 
  • A high expectation of children’s learning and development. 
  • A strong commitment to teamwork. 
  • Experience of working or being with children under 5 years old OR an interest in child development and childhood 
  • A professional and warm approach in their interactions with children, families and staff. 
  • A positive and enquiring attitude to their own professional development.
