Director of Place and Growth

Job Introduction

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is synonymous with iconic London landmarks, culture and outstanding service delivery. The borough is home to the O2 Arena, Royal Park, the Royal Observatory, the Cutty Sark and the Royal Naval College. Our vibrant, diverse communities span Greenwich town centre in the west, to Thamesmead in the east, from the Greenwich Peninsula in the north to Eltham and Coldharbour in the south.

We are ambitious for our borough. Our books are balanced, enabling us to continue investing in our communities. Our Local Plan is under consultation, setting out the Greenwich 2040 vision to deliver on residents’ aspirations of affordable homes and bold town centre strategies. The agreed DLR extension to Thamesmead supports an ambitious proposed new town development site, creating thousands more social and private homes and world-class facilities for residents.

Our new Director of Growth will steer our relationships with and strategic partners, and lead on critical agendas spanning development and regeneration, economy and skills, capital delivery and investment, and planning and building control.

You will bring an outstanding track record of creating the right conditions for investment and successful delivery. We are looking for someone with vibrant and exciting ideas to further enhance our strategic ambitions for growth. A strong collaborator, with a clear vision of what success looks like, your values will put Greenwich’s communities at the heart of delivery.

Royal Greenwich is an inclusive employer. We want our workforce to reflect and respect the diversity of our communities and actively encourage applications from under-represented groups.
