GLL is seeking enthusiastic, multi‑talented childcare professionals to join our Children’s Centre teams across South Greenwich. Our team of Child and Family/Nursery Practitioners support our services on a flexible basis.
This role requires people who have experience in working in a nursery setting, but you will also have the opportunity to join the Children's Centre programme team supporting our timetable of activities for our local families with children under 5 years. Your time with us is flexible working across both of these areas.
As a Child and Family/Nursery Practitioner, you will help create a safe, stimulating, educational, and fun environment for children under five.
You will promote children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development through sensitive planning that responds to each child’s individual needs, while encouraging independence and confidence.
You will work collaboratively with dedicated colleagues and partner agencies to ensure our Children’s Centre services are inclusive, welcoming, and accessible to local families.
What You’ll Do
Plan and deliver engaging activities for individuals and groups of children, tailored to their age, stage, and interests, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Support children’s learning and development through observation, record‑keeping, and shared planning.
Communicate effectively with parents/carers through daily informal discussions and review meetings where appropriate.
Respect and value children’s home cultures and languages, including supporting children with English as an additional language.
Contribute to a stimulating, inclusive, and safe learning environment that promotes equality and diversity.
Supervise children indoors, outdoors, and on outings, always ensuring appropriate levels of care and safeguarding.
What You’ll Need
NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare / Child Development (or equivalent).
Experience working with children under five and their families.
Sound knowledge of the EYFS framework, safeguarding procedures, and child protection.
Understanding of Ofsted Children’s Centre requirements.
Experience supporting play‑based learning using evidence‑based EYFS approaches.
Knowledge of equality, diversity, and inclusive practice, including working with disabled children and those with special educational needs.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
