Allocations Assistant
Secondment Until June 2027
The Allocation Service manages the council’s Housing Register and responds to a high volume of inquiries from other departments and residents in housing need. The workload for this post is varied and involves dealing with telephone inquiries, creating, updating, and processing housing applications, and providing essential administrative support to the service. A core requirement of this role is the ability to respond effectively to general correspondence from residents and other stakeholders who contact the service, ensuring that all communication is handled professionally and promptly.
The successful candidate will be committed to delivering a quality, customer-focused service to a consistently high standard at all times. You must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure with minimal supervision. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will be responsible for managing complex queries and maintaining accurate records within a fast-paced environment.
